On October 23,Prof. YongxinXu,Secretary General of China Africa Water Association,signed a strategic cooperation agreement withChangsha Sponge City Industry Alliance.Prof. Xu also held a deep discussion with Mr. Bo Liu, the president of Changsha Sponge City Industry Alliance,in the Hunan Green Expo“Rising of central China: the 2021 Forum on Sponge City Construction in urban Agglomerations in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River from the perspective of Carbon Neutrality”.

Both sides are committed to building a water cooperation platform between China and Africa. In the area of water resource development, protection and utilization, comprehensive watershed management, water ecological environment protection and restoration, rural water supply security and flood disaster prevention and control, cooperation goals will be achieved through channels such as China and Africa water science and technology exchange forum, personnel training, industrial promotion, and support from multilateral international government and financial institutions

Against the background of COVID-19, the signing of this agreement is invaluable and will certainly play an important role inChina-Africa international cooperation on water resources.
